Service Based (SaaS) Recognition Model Targets Straight-Through-Processing Levels
of Efficiency on New Platform
BAI TransPay Conference & Expo, San Diego, CA - February 23, 2009 — Orbograph Ltd., a leading developer of recognition solutions for the U.S. check processing market, today announced that its newest service-based recognition solution, Automation9 powered by G6 Enterprise Recognition Technology, is now available for integration to business partners and end-user clients.
As a recognition service with industry-leading read rates and turn-around times, Automation9 runs on the newest generation, web services platform from Orbograph, G6 Enterprise Recognition Technology. Due to performance levels targeting over 98% automation and 99% accuracy, Automation9 enables clients to save up to 40% of existing labor costs for data entry and balancing.
Service-based solutions using Software as a Service (SaaS) models have become increasingly important to the marketplace as check volumes decline. According to the 2007 Federal Reserve Payments study, checks have declined at a rate of 6% per year since 2003. Many financial institutions are reluctant to allocate capital funds for new hardware and software related to check processing although they are under pressure to reduce costs. The Automation9 service running on G6 eliminates capital investment requirements while still providing the advanced technology needed to ensure highest recognition performance for greatest operational efficiency in centralized, back-counter, and teller capture.
“SaaS is a strategic, forward-thinking approach which refines the environment of recognition to meet the market’s pressing challenges,” explains Barry Cohen, General Manager of Orbograph Ltd. “Our new flagship service solution, Automation9 powered by G6 Enterprise Recognition Technology, builds upon the favorable market response to our existing Automation 08 service offering. By combining a cost-effective business model with the very latest in recognition technology functionality and an innovative architecture, Automation9 opens the door for achieving unprecedented results going forward.”
Orbograph’s G6 Enterprise Recognition Technology, based on a Services Oriented Architecture (SOA), addresses distributed and centralized check processing workflows with web services technology. By leveraging SOA, a wide range of functionality is tightly integrated into G6 enabling multiple recognition-centric applications to be run concurrently. For example, branch capture, image-based fraud detection, and image quality with image integrity are all handled in one application program interface (API) call. The system leverages several tiers of recognition, as improved Automation engines are utilized onsite at branch, back office, or teller locations. Images with “low confidence” scores are scrubbed and forwarded to Orbograph’s Key-Pay® Hub where enhancement logic increases confidence levels on select items. A final data verification process on the most difficult images is the last workflow stage. All results are managed systematically and scored for consistency targeting recognition and accuracy objectives.
Automation9 also incorporates a new Business Intelligence (BI) module used for post optimization and trend analysis. As part of the service, Orbograph tracks system performance and uptime at various points in the process.
